Lake Erie Panthers Hockey

Hello, Hockey Families -

Thank you and congratulations again to our players, coaches and families on a successful season! The Pepsi Hockey Invitational Tournament in Buffalo this past weekend was a well run event and rewarding experience with great competition. Congratulations to all our teams, who played exceptional all weekend. Our Squirts and Pee Wees made it to the Finals in their respective divisions before coming up short in the championship games. A huge congratulations to our Bantam players, coaches and families who are the 2016 Pepsi Hockey Invitational Bantam Atlantic Champions with a 6-0 drubbing of the Manvers, Ontario Mustangs in the Final. We are extremely proud of the Bantams accomplishments at the event and all season. Great finish to your season with three tournament wins in total. 

On behalf of all board members, please know all of us learned a lot this season, are proud of our program and intend to make our hockey club stronger than ever.

On that note, I want to let you know the board's proposed initiative to update our program's name and brand to the Lake Erie Panthers Hockey Club overwhelmingly passed 51 (for) to 16 (against). Thank you to all those who took the time to vote.

While many are excited about our club's future, we recognize others feel differently. Please know the board plans to discuss a couple of ideas brought to our attention to recognize and keep our Euclid heritage strong, and more details will follow. We also plan to refine and finalize the club logo and colors soon.

Finally, Rick Kish and Mark Garner are finalizing tryout dates for next month, and we will update you soon. Until then, we hope all of the kids have a good spring break, and we will see you soon.

Tryout Dates for 2016-17 Teams

The Lake Erie Panthers are pleased to announce their Spring of 2016 Skills Assessments and Tryouts for the Mites, Squirts, and PW teams 2016-17 season.  All sessions will take place at the Gilmour Academy ice Arena.  Our plans for the 2016-17 season will most likely include 3-4 Mite teams, 2 Squirt Teams, and 2 Peewee level teams.  Our Bantam plans were released a few days back and include a joint venture/partnership with the Cleveland Heights Hockey program.   A non-refundable commitment fee of $75.00 is due at the first tryout session and covers all three sessions.
This commitment fee will be applied to your child's fees if the child remains with EYHA for the 2016-17 season.

Players are encourage to attend as many sessions as possible.  For Squirt and PW it is highly recommended that players attend a minimum of 2 or the 3 sessions.   For Mites it is recommended that players attend at least 1 of the sessions.  We did try and stagger the times and dates so that these sessions would be less likely to interview with Spring and Summer sporting events.
Gilmour Academy Ice Arena is located at 34001 Cedar Road Gates Mills, OH 44040.

Bantam 2016-17 Tryout Announcement

2016-17 Bantam Players and Parents:

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Cleveland Heights Youth Hockey Program and Euclid Youth Hockey Association are proud to announce that they have formed a partnership and will be working together on the formation of teams at the bantam level for the 2016-17 season.  Expected levels for 2016-17 will include a 2002 Bantam Major and 2003 Bantam Minor Teams who will participate at both the CSHL and a competitive tournament division levels and a combined 2002-03 team (or teams) that will participate in the CSHL and additional tournaments.

While there were many reasons for both Euclid and Cleveland Heights to work together on this partnership, three primary factors were key to EHYA in moving forward with this partnership:  (1) Insuring that all of our players would have the opportunity to play at levels that would best prepare them for hockey beyond the Bantams; (2) age level appropriate and adequate team sizes for the safety of our players; and (3) a combined and collective vision of player development that should meet and/or exceed any other programs in the Cleveland area. While other programs are being devastated by new teams and groups taking away players, this partnership will provide players from both organizations the opportunity to remain with their friends while also providing them stability and high-level training.  As part of the program our players will have the opportunity to work with goalie coaches Jim Keserich and former NHL goalie  Damian Rhodes, skills programs that will include Russ Sinkewich of the Ohio Hockey Project and power skating with the well renowned and successful Chip Rossbach.

Expected cost for the teams will be approximately $ 1,000 for the season, which includes league fees, tournament entry fees and jerseys and socks.

To help with this transition and to give players the opportunity to meet we will be holding 3 on 3 on-ice events at Cleveland Heights Recreation Pavilion on the following dates...

     Saturday, March 26th from 4:45 - 6:00 PM at
     Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 7:15 PM - 8:30 PM

In addition, we will hold a Parent informational meeting before the 3 on 3 on-ice event on 4/2 at 6:30pm at the Cleveland Heights Recreation Pavilion.  Please plan to attend on the following dates for all those players who are interested and would like to find out additional information.

Tryouts for the 2016-17 Teams will be held on the following dates

     Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 3:15 PM - 4:30 PM
     Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 8:45 PM - 9:45 PM
     Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

A non-refundable tryout of $75 is due at the first tryout session.

Coaches from both Cleveland Heights and Euclid will be working together on this partnership including, Mike Baumann, Pat Baumann, Bob Kehres, Jim Kehres, Ted Kohanski, and Rick Kish.  Other coaches may be added to the program as needed.

Hey Everyone:

Just a quick message to let everyone know that our 2nd session of Learn to Play hockey kicks off this upcoming Thursday at 6:00 PM.  If you know of anyone who has a child that is interested in possibly playing hockey this program is a wonderful, low cost opportunity for them to get started.  Prices are low and it includes use of basic equipment.  Pls they also will receive a free hockey stick and USA Hockey jersey.  Registration will be available online or on-site starting at 5:00 PM.  For additional details please visit the EYHA website at www . eyha . net

In addition, if anyone is able to come out and assist us between 5 and 7 PM on Thursday either on or off the ice we can certainly us the help.  If possible, Please let me know if you are able to make it.

As of this email we only have 11 people who have filled out their registration paperwork for the 2013-14 season (6 of them are Board Members children).  Please register as soon as possible as it will help us make sure our numbers are correct.

Goalies, Coaches, and Goalie Parents:

I am proud to announce that Jim Keserich has signed on for the 2013-14 season as the EYHA organizational Goalie coach. Coach Keserich has long been held in very high regard in our area as one of the best goaltending coaches and will certainly be a welcome addition to our staff. In addition to his yearly, sold out Goalie camp, Coach Jim also runs individual weekly clinics on the West side. For EYHA, Jim will host 2-3 Goalie clinics per month, generally on Wednesday afternoons from 5-6 PM for our goalies.

EYHA Sponsorship Drive 2012-13


Hey Everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that we are currently in the beginning stages of our 2012-13 EYHA Sponsorship drive.  Our goal is to sell all of the open spaces on the EYHA message board and also gain sponsors for all of our EYHA teams.

We are asking your help in getting sponsors for the organization and have added an incentive program to help anyone who is willing to help out and sell a few plans.  Attached is the breakdown of available sponsor and donor levels for the EYHA program, please feel free to pass this along to anyone you feel may be interested in supporting EYHA.  For your troubles, we are offering the following incentive plan for anyone who can help in procuring sponsors and donors for our program:

Mites Begin this Friday
Just a reminder that Mite practices begin this Friday for any players interested in participating on the Mite 1 team for 2011-12.  As a side note, to be eligible for Mite 1 players must have birth years of either 2003 or 2004.  Per CSHL rules, 2005 (and later birth years) can only play ADM Level hockey beginning this season.  Pratices in for Mites in September are open to all players who register for either Panther Tracks or Mites for 2011-12.

Pre-Season Games
Scheduling for CSHL games will begin after September 22nd.  Teams will participate in a minimum of 4 games (maximum of 10) in the pre-season.  I will meet with the coaches prior to scheduling and encourage all teams to participate in 6-8 games in the preseason.  Each Head coach is given the authority to schedule the appropriate number of games that they feel is best for their individual teams.  Parents should let their Head Coaches know if players will be unavailable to participate in games between Thursday, September 22nd – Sunday, October 23rd.

Player Releases for Players New to CSHL
Per CSHL Rules (listed below) , any player who is switching from a different program to EYHA must request a release from the previous years program.  A formal release is required before that player may participate in any games for EYHA.  Please forward all releases, questions about releases, or requests for release to Rick Kish, EYHA Hockey Director, via email (rick.kish@eyha.net).

Roster/Team Assignments (Squirts, Peewees, and Bantams)
 Currently, most families have heard about team placement for their children if they are playing for the Squirt, Peewee, or Bantam teams.  Please contact Rick Kish, Hockey Director, if you have not heard or have a question about team placement.

Peewee and New Players Wanted

Currently, we have a huge need for players in the 11-12 age group for our Peewee 2 team.  If you know of someone who would like to start playing hockey and are a bit older please encourage them to come and give it a try.  We also are planning a Try Hockey for Free Event for prospective players on October 1st.  Further information will be released in the next week.

Coaches and Team Managers

Additional Coaches and Team Managers are needed.   For further information or to volunteer please contact Rick Kish.
